I have been performing music since I was 16-years old. I have worked in honky tonks and stadiums. A lot of the experiences have been weird, most have been awesome. Especially the weird ones!
Interests
Audio Software Development
I have been deeply involved in writing software for audio applications. I am passionate about how things sound, so it isn't just an engineering task for me. I know the science behind sound. I have decades of experience writing C-code and assembly code to render, modify, and enhance audio. I have a patent in three-dimensional audio. From decoding, to signal processing, to CODEC, to amplifier, to speaker driver, I have dug in deep.
Cover Band Music
I have been playing in cover bands in front of audiences for many years. I know a lot of songs! I have worked in bar bands, big show bands, tribute bands, wedding bands, corporate bands, duos and trios. I really like performing for an audience. There is nothing better than watching a crowd dance to some great music that I am creating.
Ethnic Music
In the late 90's, I started playing ethnic music. I have been playing in a middle eastern belly dance band since then, The Middle Earth Ensemble. I also worked in an African fusion band called Damaru. This music is the perfect counterpoint to the cover band. They balance each other out. Both take discipline, but the ethnic music has a lot more improvisation.
Jazz
My one true musical love is jazz. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker. I love technical, fast, intense jazz music. If there is a heaven, I will play jazz music in a caberet. I started playing in jazz bands in high school. My favorite part of jazz is improvising. It turns out that improvising is a life-long pursuit. There is no finish line in learning how to improvise.
